One of my best friends has been asking me to make her a dress for her 40th birthday since last year. I still can’t believe that we all have turned 40 this year! Especially because we have been best friends for 25 years now..what a blessing!
A few weeks before her birthday I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to make her, I guess you can say I was waiting for a bit of inspiration to hit me.
Early this year her daughter joined the Army and I thought how cool would it be if I can find some nice fabric with an army print to make her 40th birthday dress.
So one day I was at the fabric store standing at the counter waiting to get some fabric cut and I spotted a sparkling fabric that looked to me like army print so I walked over to see it and lo and behold it was! I couldn’t believe I had attracted this fabric to me 🙂
So I bought a yard because at that point I had decided that this dress was going to be simple and just let the print stand out.
I started with a basic strapless a-line dress as my muslin and had her try it on so I can pin it and add my style line at the bottom of the dress.
Once I got her fitted and did all my markings I used these pieces as my pattern.
Inspired by her daughters brave decision to join the Army here is the final result! My friend couldn’t have been happier 😀
Our other best friend created the earrings and necklace for her to match
You can check out more of her jewelry at Bell Gonzalez Jewelry
You can also purchase the belt at my shop WCobar Collection
This is such a glam army dress and she looks fantastic in it!!
Thanks Trish! 😀 I’m really happy it worked out especially since I only had one day to make it.. she was so happy too!
